Christine McLarty is an award-winning journalist recognized by The Associated Press, Radio Television Digital News Association, and Society of Professional Journalists. She’s a reporter for ABC27 News at 5 p.m. and ABC27 News at 6 p.m.

Joining the ABC27 News team in April 2016, Christine comes to us all the way from the Sunshine State. She was born and raised in Tampa, Florida and says she’s thrilled to live and work in an area with seasonal weather changes. (She asks if you have any tips on how to survive her first Pennsylvania winter, reach out and let her know!)

After graduating from University of Florida, Christine was a reporter/producer for ABC 7 WWSB-TV in Sarasota, Florida and then weekend anchor/producer for WSNN News in the Tampa market.

As a passionate storyteller, Christine’s goal is to tell stories that matter to our viewers. She quotes the great Edward R. Murrow when she says she enjoys being a “Voice for the Voiceless.” In her eyes, the best way to do this is by immersing herself in the community and making connections with everyone she bumps into.

Christine feels blessed to have traveled with her family to Australia, Japan, Scotland, Ireland and Europe many times. She says that traveling has taught her people of all cultures are similar: everyone enjoys connecting with others, laughing and being loved. She’s proud of her Irish/Scottish heritage and has a special place in her heart for Chicago (where her family is from).

When she’s not working, you can catch Christine at the latest community event, singing, playing tennis, cooking something creative in the kitchen, snuggled up with a good book or hiking and camping in the great outdoors. If you see her out and about be sure to say hello and give her a warm welcome to our Keystone State.

Christine invites anyone to “join the conversation” on social media and tweet her @ChristineABC27. You can also message her with a story idea (or just to say hello) through Facebook at ABC 27’s Christine McLarty.
