Mike Parker co-anchors ABC 27’s 11 p.m. newscast. He is a Midstate native whose personal ties to our region begin in his hometown of Halifax, Dauphin County where he attended high school.
The son of a Harrisburg city steelworker and medical laboratory technician, Mike credits his strong work ethic to his parents, who are now retired and still live locally. A graduate of Shippensburg University, Mike began his career in news in the late 90’s with radio stations in Chambersburg, Sunbury and Harrisburg before transitioning to television.
Mike worked as a reporter and evening anchor for another Harrisburg television station from 2003-2010. He later headed to the eastern shore of Maryland where he created the award-winning weekly television series, “Outdoors Delmarva,” where he filmed and hosted more than 120 episodes featuring the region’s outdoor recreational activities. Mike’s reporting and photojournalism skills were honored by the Chesapeake Associated Press Broadcaster’s Association, when he was recognized as the region’s Best Reporter and Outstanding Video Journalist/One Man Band TV Reporter.
Mike is a sports enthusiast, and you may have heard him on the radio calling Tri-Valley League high school football games. He also serves on the Shippensburg University Alumni Association Board of Directors.
Outside of work, Mike enjoys fishing, hunting, photography and working on his “fixer-upper” of a house. He lives in Dauphin County with his wife, Tara and their two children, Autumn and Stone.
