Lawmakers advance bill to ban sale, use of powdered alcohol

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — A proposal to ban powdered alcohol is advancing in the Pennsylvania Legislature.

A bill to prohibit the possession, sale or use of the substance passed the state House on Thursday and was sent to the Senate.

Supporters of the ban say alcohol in powdered form would be dangerous in the hands of children and could too easily lead to overconsumption.

Earlier this year, the Wolf administration backed a decision by state liquor regulators that prohibits the sale of powdered alcohol in the state.
