Truck driver killed in multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 95

BENSALEM, Pa. (AP) — State police say a truck driver has been killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 that shutdown a portion of the highway nearly all day.

The Bucks County Courier Times reports (http://bit.ly/15acoEj ) that 58-year-old Paul Mirys of Trenton, New Jersey, who was hauling scrap metal in a tractor-trailer, died in the accident. It happened around 1:30 p.m. Thursday on northbound I-95 near the Street Road exit in Bensalem.

A spokeswoman for Sims Metal Management says Mirys was a longtime employee whose death has left co-workers in shock.

Two tractor-trailers and four passenger cars also were involved in the accident. The drivers were not injured.

Northbound traffic was being diverted at the Academy Road exit in Philadelphia.

State police say I-95 was reopened fully around 11 p.m. Thursday.
