Vehicle fire, crash in traffic backlog forces closure on Route 283 in Lancaster County

MANHEIM, Pa. (WHTM) – A vehicle fire and an additional crash forced a closure on part of Route 283 Friday night in Lancaster County.

The vehicle fire was reported shortly after 7 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of Route 283 at Route 772 in Mount Joy Township.

According to a Lancaster County 911 dispatcher, a two-vehicle crash in the backlog of traffic resulting from the vehicle fire also created issues.

EMS crews were called to the scene but the number of people injured and the extent of their injuries is unknown at this time.
