LONDONDERRY TWP, Pa – (WHTM) – The operator of Three Mile Island Generating Station will test its warning siren system today around 12:15 p.m.
The TMI siren test is the second of two semi-annual tests performed at the Londonderry Township facility. The first 2016 test was done June 2.
The test will activate all 96 sirens in the system that covers the five counties in the plant’s 10-mile radius. Exelon Generation, the plant operator, says the sirens do not signal an evacuation, but a warning to tune into emergency broadcast programming on radio or television.
The plant produces energy for 800,000 homes.
