Second Lebanon County student dies following crash last month

LEBANON, Pa. (WHTM) – A second student has died from their injuries sustained in a crash last month, according to Cedar Crest High School’s website.

Sophomore Marcella Irwin has passed away, about two weeks after a crash that also claimed the life of 17-year-old Ian Smith.

North Lebanon Township police responded to the crash in the area of Kochenderfer Road and Sholly Avenue around 11:15 p.m. on Nov. 19. Smith, who was a senior at CCHS, lost control of the vehicle on the wet roadway and slid sideways into a tree, police said.

Two other occupants were taken to Hershey Medical Center for treatment.

Counseling will be available at the school for those in need.
