ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. (WHTM) – Ethan Waugh, a freshman at Elizabethtown College, sat in front of a pile of colorful sticky notes on Wednesday.
Some of the notes had messages on them like “live, laugh, love.” Another read “a smile a day keeps the clouds away”.
“I drew on a couple of them too,” Waugh told ABC27 News. “I have a little rainbow on some of them.”
The messages were meant to create a day of positivity at the Lancaster County college.
The idea was brought to life by Rachel Craft, another freshman at Elizabethtown College.
“We recognize there is a lot of tension around the nation and a lot of negativity on a daily basis,” she said. “We hope to really combat that.”
Dylan Warner, another freshman at Elizabethtown College, inspired the idea.
Warner helped to post some of the message his follow students wrote in Schlosser Hall, a residents hall, at the college.
“By reading these things you know someone out there cares about you,” Warner said. “We have things like ‘I love you, you’re beautiful,’ and things like that. They make you really feel like you’re part of this connected campus.”
Warner said they hoped to post 78,000 of the notes around campus.
