Ripken makes stop at Harrisburg elementary school

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Hall of Fame legend Cal Ripken Jr. made a stop in Harrisburg Tuesday with a focus on studies rather than sports.

The “Iron Man” visited the STEM Center at Melrose Elementary School, which features more than $10,000 dollars’ worth of science, technology and math equipment for Harrisburg students.

The center is funded by the Cal Ripken Senior Foundation, which the former two-time American League MVP founded in his father’s honor.

Ripken has been retired from baseball for 15 years and his foundation promises to develop more of these programs for communities in need.
