CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) – Midstate Congressman Lou Barletta’s office confirms he will be meeting with President-elect Donald Trump but won’t say why. Barletta (R) represents Pennsylvania’s 11th Congressional district. He served as a surrogate for Trump during the election and is now on his executive transition team.
Barletta was supposed to meet with Trump Monday, but that meeting was rescheduled for Tuesday because of a scheduling conflict.
There were reports that Trump was considering Barletta as a candidate for U.S. Secretary of Transportation, but according to the Associated Press, Trump has chosen Elaine Chao, the former labor secretary and wife of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
Barletta served as chair of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
