HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Hundreds of union workers about to lose their jobs are urging lawmakers to return to the Capitol to vote on a bill that would restore funding for call centers across Pennsylvania.
At a rally Monday evening outside the Labor and Industry Building in Harrisburg, affected workers called on Senate leadership to vote on House Bill 2375.
The legislation would restore funding for the Altoona, Allentown, Lancaster UC Call Centers, as well as the Harrisburg Overflow center. It passed the House but never came up for a vote in the Senate.
The employees affected began receiving layoff notices last week. Their last day working will be Dec. 19, when Gov. Tom Wolf’s administration plans to close the service centers.
