Hearing postponed for suspect in car jacking, theft spree

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – A preliminary hearing for a Hummelstown woman arrested for a recent carjacking and numerous retail thefts has been postponed.

Lisa Dawn, 44, will no appear in court on January 5.

Dawn and Alfred Carerra II, 44, led police on a high-speed chase that spanned several jurisdictions on Nov. 16

The pair is accused of taking a Dodge Durango from a fast-food restaurant in Middletown. The owner told police a man snatched her car keys from her table, then threatened to shoot her when she followed him to the parking lot. She said he put his hand to his waistband, but she did not see a gun.

The two is also suspected in at least five retail thefts at Giant food stores, including thefts of laundry detergent from the Camp Hill store last month and the South Hanover Township store on Nov. 15.

Smith is in prison on $500,000 bail.
