COLUMBIA, Pa. (WHTM)- Friday evening the Columbia Borough Police were called to 233 Walnut St. for a domestic.
During the incident, officers were told by the caller that the male was going to be violent and that he was going to “go out with a bang”. Fifty-two-year-old Joseph William Rineer was seen in the kitchen of the house according to authorities.
Police say Rineer charged at the responding officers knocking one of them off of the porch onto the sidewalk. Rineer attempted to push another officer and resisted being handcuffed.
During the scuffle, a police radio was damaged and one of the officers had minor injuries. The officer that had the injuries was able to finish out his shift.
Rineer was charged with Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting Arrest and Criminal Mischief. Rineer was taken to central arraignment on the charges.
