Shop Perry promotes buying local throughout the holiday season

NEWPORT, Pa. (WHTM) – The annual Shop Perry, promoted by the Perry County Chamber of Commerce, kicked off on Friday.

Shop Perry is an annual program that encourages residents to shop at local stores in Perry County. It runs through December 24th.

Customers who visit participating stores during Shop Perry can fill out a card and register to win door prizes, or the grand prize of a gift certificate to any of those stores.

“It’s like a little diamond in the rough in Newport. Because, there are so many fabulous shops,” said Debbie Keith, owner of Junk and Jazz Eclectic Boutique. “All the little shops have something unique to offer. And this kind of promotion, where everyone’s geared up, every shop is geared up. We have our best things on display. So, it’s very important.”

Some store owners are also extending their Black Friday and Small Business Saturday sales throughout the Shop Perry program.
