Mechanicsburg church holds annual youth sleep out for homeless

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Members of a Mechanicsburg church are joining together for an annual event that raises awareness and funds for homeless families.

From 4 p.m. Wednesday until 8 a.m. Thanksgiving Day, participants remain outside in a community of cardboard boxes.

Now in its 24th year, the First United Methodist Church’s annual event aims to surpass the more than $5,000 raised last year.

All proceeds benefit New Hope Ministries in Mechanicsburg.
