HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Credit card systems are working again after a nearly hour-long outage Wednesday afternoon.
The system crashed around 3 p.m. during the pre-Thanksgiving shopping rush.
Too many people were trying to buy liquor and it overwhelmed the network, according to Pennsylvania Liquor Control Communications Director, Elizabeth Brassell.
During the outage, customers couldn’t pay with credit or debit cards, which caused frustration and long lines.
It took about an hour to get the system back up and running.
Brassell said most, if-not all stores were able to accept card transactions by 4 p.m.
