Lebanon police ID man fatally struck at train crossing

LEBANON, Pa. (WHTM) – Police have identified a man who was fatally struck by a freight train as a 51-year-old city resident.

Wilhelm Dauberman died Monday afternoon after he was struck by the Norfolk Southern train at the North Eighth Street crossing, police said.

Witnesses reported Dauberman tried to run across the tracks but tripped on a rail and fell into the path of an oncoming train.

Authorities said there is no marked or lighted crossing where he was struck. They said the train was going about 40 mph.
