LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) – A Lancaster woman is behind bars after authorities say she attempted to smuggle heroin to a Lancaster County Prison inmate through a kiss.
Maria Rosa, 45, is charged with felony counts of possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession of contraband and a misdemeanor count of tampering with evidence.
On Nov. 14., Rosa reportedly placed two balloons, filled with heroin packets, in her mouth prior to a scheduled visitation with her boyfriend, a 48-year-old inmate. She planned on transferring the balloons during a kiss with the inmate, Drug Task Force detectives said.
When confronted by prison staff, Rosa swallowed the balloons. The balloons were later recovered at Lancaster General Hospital. Ten baggies of heroin were found in each balloon.
Rosa is at Lancaster County Prison on $25,000 bail.
The inmate has not been charged.
