Missing children found safe

INDIANA, Pa. (WHTM) – Police say two Indiana County children reported missing last week have been found safe.

Fifteen-year-old Gianna Smith and her 12-year-old brother Mitchell disappeared from their foster home sometime between 11:30 p.m. Thursday and 3 a.m. Friday.

State police issued an Amber Alert Friday afternoon. At the time, they said the siblings may be in danger of harm, and they were especially concerned about Gianna, who they said is autistic and nonverbal.

Police believed the children may have been traveling to Abbottstown, Adams County or the Maryland area with an unidentified woman.

Baltimore ABC affiliate WMAR-TV reports the two were found Sunday night in Towson.

Authorities haven’t said who found the children.

Both are in the custody of Baltimore County Child Services, WMAR reported.
