LEBANON, Pa. (WHTM) – A man is dead after he was struck by a train Monday in Lebanon.
First responders were called arounnd 4:35 p.m. to the area of North 8th Street after the 51-year-old victim was struck by a Norfolk Southern train.
Witnesses told police the man stopped at the southern set of rails and tried to run across the tracks. He then tripped and fell into the path of the oncoming train.
No one was seen with the man in the area at the time of the incident.
According to Fire Commissioner Duane Trautman, the train was moving at about 40 mph.
The victim’s name has not been released.
