Palmyra school board member grilled for social media exchanges

PALMYRA, Pa. (WHTM) – Public comment at Thursday night’s Palmyra School Board meeting was direct and to the point concerning a board member’s Twitter exchanges.

Some parents said Ralph Duquette’s election night tweets were not becoming of someone in his position.

Duquette, a Democrat, posted comments in reply to negative attacks against Hillary Clinton.

“You keep looking and looking, I keep changing my profile but you keep looking. If you find it offensive, stop looking. I am changing it so people will stop looking,” Duquette said.

Parents argued that students in the district may be able to see what Duquette posts.

“I do have a problem with people telling me to go kill myself and I should be executed and call me a Nazi who should be deported,” Duquette said.

Some of the folks in attendance asked Duquette to take action in the best interest of the district.

Duquette is up for re-election next year and said he plans to run again.

Other board members say they would like to move past this and focus on other issues.
