Lancaster man convicted on loaded gun charge

LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) – A Lancaster County jury convicted a 20-year-old Lancaster man of a felony gun charge on Thursday.

Jurors deliberated for about two hours before finding Niziere J. Dean guilty of a felony count of persons not to possess firearms.

The charge stemmed from a Sept. 2015 incident when police pulled Dean over at a McDonald’s on Columbia Ave. Two men got out of the car and ran from the scene. Dean, who was in the front passenger seat, was arrested.

An Armscor .45-caliber handgun cocked and fully loaded with a round in the chamber was found under a seat. Police also found crack cocaine where Dean was seated.

Dean, who has a prior felony drug conviction, is also charged with felony drug dealing and having a firearm without a license. A trial has been scheduled for January on those charges.

Judge Jeffery Wright will order a sentence after other charges are resolved.
