HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Police say they’ve identified a man who asked an 11-year-old girl for her name and phone number as she walked home from her bus stop in Swatara Township earlier this month.

Timothy W. Akorli, 36, of Harrisburg, turned himself in Thursday to face felony counts of luring a child into a motor vehicle and unlawful contact with a minor. He also faces a summary charge of harassment for the Nov. 3 incident.

The girl told officers she was approached by a man in a black Dodge Charger while walking in the 6100 block of Chatham Glenn Way North. She said the man asked for her name and phone number, and he wanted to know what school she attended, township police said.

Police said the girl immediately called her father. He walked out of his home and saw the Dodge leaving the neighborhood, heading south on 61st Street.

Investigators said they identified Akorli as the suspect with the help of an anonymous tipster.

He was released on $25,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled Nov. 30.
