Propane truck fire burns out nearly 24 hours after crash

SPRING GROVE, Pa. (WHTM) — A propane truck that overturned and burst into flames in York County stopped burning nearly 24 hours after the crash.

The truck overturned Wednesday morning around 8:30 a.m. along South Lake Road near Jackson Square Road in Jackson Township. The fire burned itself out by 8 a.m. Thursday.

Fire crews had to rescue the driver from the burning truck. He was taken to York Hospital. Officials did not know the severity of his injuries.

Fire crews couldn’t put out the fire because they feared there could have been an explosion. They let the fire burn out on its own, but sprayed water on the tank to keep it cool.

Ten families evacuated from the immediate area were allowed to return to their homes Wednesday night.
