Ephrata man charged with setting fire to his own home

EPHRATA, Pa. (WHTM) – An Ephrata man is accused of intentionally setting fire to the home he lives in.

Barry L. Foltz, Jr. was arrested Thursday and charged with arson after a fire in the first block of Summerlyn Drive in Ephrata Township.

The 34-year-old lives in the home with his sister and her family, as well as the homeowner and the homeowner’s father.

First responders arrived to the scene around 10:30 a.m. to find a fire contained to the garage portion of the home. The blaze was extinguished with help from several fire companies.

According to police, Foltz forced all six other residents to evacuate before the fire was set. Seven pets were also evacuated.

No one was injured.
