HALIFAX, Pa. (WHTM) – A Perry County man has been jailed for the armed robbery of a northern Dauphin County discount store.

John K. Lucas, 45, of Millerstown, is accused of robbing the Dollar General store in Halifax on Oct. 28.

Lucas had tried to buy cigarettes, but when a clerk asked for identification, he went to his car and returned with a knife before demanding the money from the register, state police in Lykens said in a news release.

When the clerk would not hand over the money, police said Lucas reached into the register and helped himself.

Investigators said Lucas was identified through surveillance video and witnesses who saw his license plate. Delaware State Police arrested him near Wilmington the following day.

He waived extradition and is awaiting a preliminary hearing on robbery and related charges in the Dauphin County Prison. Bail is set at $75,000.
