LEBANON, Pa. (WHTM) – Two firefighters were injured while battling a townhouse fire early Wednesday in North Cornwall Township.
The firefighters had responded to the 200 block of Carlton Drive around 3:15 a.m. One was hurt when he fell through the second floor. The other was treated for smoke inhalation. Both were taken to a hospital for treatment.
Three adults and two children were displaced. The American Red Cross is helping them.
The adjoining townhouses had water damage, but firewalls kept the flames contained.
“That’s a big concern, a lot of times it runs the row,” Chief Steven Matthew of the Neversink Fire Company said. “They’re supposed to have firewalls, but they are limited in some places.”
The cause is under investigation, but it’s believed to have been started by a candle.
