HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – A meet and greet at Central Dauphin East High school’s library was held Wednesday night as the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region officially debuted its Bigs in Blue program.

ABC27 first shared the partnership last month when Swatara Township police joined, making them the first local department to sign up for the nationwide program. Now, Susquehanna Township has added officers, too.

The Bigs met their Littles and their parents and learned a lot about each other. The goal is to build positive relationships between police and students.

The officers will go into the schools and share a meal, playground time, or even help with homework.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region reports more police departments are signing up as well.
