Dauphin County Court officials warn of jury duty scam

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Dauphin County Court officials are warning residents about a scam related to jury duty.

A caller has reached out to residents claiming to be a court administrator.

During one call, the false court administrator warned a victim they failed to appear for jury duty and there were warrants for his arrest, each carrying a $1,000 fine.

The caller insisted the victim stay on the phone so he could be tracked, otherwise police would take him to prison. The victim told police he could hear police radios in the background during the call.

Court officials will only notifications to jurors through the mail and will not ask for payments over the phone.
