Capital Region Water mulls rate increase for 2017

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Capital Region Water customers could see increased rates of over $7 a month next year.

The company’s board of directors will vote next Tuesday on proposed rates for 2017.

Under proposed budgets, sewer rates for 2017 will be set at $6.53 per 1,000 gallons. Drinking water rates will be set at $8.80 per 1,000 gallons with a monthly “Ready to Serve” charge of $6.95 for most customers.

Changes would bring a monthly increase of $7.07 for the typical customer consuming 4,500 gallons per month, according to Capital Region Water.

Proposed budgets, rates and engineering reports are available online ahead of the meeting.

Customers are welcome to make comments and ask questions when the board gathers Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. on the first floor of 212 Locust Street in Harrisburg.
