Unlike other injuries type law, such as workers compensation, with social security disability, you get one hearing before an Administrative Law Judge. The normal wait time to even get a hearing is 18 months from the date you file your Appeal. One thing applicants should be aware of is that lengthy wait time.  However, since there is a lengthy wait time and you get one shot to convince an ALJ that you are entitle to social security disability benefits, having an attorney who knows the process, the ALJs and the legal arguments seems like a no brainer.
