HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – The dust has barely settled from the 2016 election and already there’s talk about the 2017 race for Harrisburg mayor.
Former city council president Gloria Martin-Roberts announced Monday that she’s running against Mayor Eric Papenfuse.
Touting her “homegrown roots” during an announcement at the National Civil War Museum, Martin-Roberts said the city is divided under Papenfuse.
She vowed to mend relationships with the school district, state government, the media, and neighborhoods she believes are forgotten.
“These are the things I have seen, they are the weaknesses that I have seen; not only just seeing, but people are coming to me and have been telling me for years,” she said. “I want to make them better.”
Martin-Roberts said she also plans to focus on community policing.
