NEW KINGSTOWN, Pa. (WHTM) – Whirlpool Corporation is making a commitment to its future in Cumberland County.
In a Wednesday morning ceremony in New Kingstown, the appliance manufacturer broke ground for a new storage facility. The complex will add 300,000 square feet of storage space and replace its current distribution center in Carlisle that handles the distribution of Whirlpool home appliances.
“We expect that the additional space will improve our flexibility, increase our efficiency, and provide needed space for our growing business,” said Alison Jones of Whirlpool Logistics.
The company’s local 90-member workforce will be maintained. Construction will begin soon with a completion date expected by late next year.
Whirlpool Corporation is the largest major appliance manufacturer in the world.
