AG: Dauphin County man spied on estranged wife’s Facebook, emails

David R. Maurer

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – A Dauphin County man is charged with spying on his estranged wife’s private email and Facebook accounts.

David R. Maurer, 36, of Susquehanna Township, installed software on the woman’s laptop to obtain passwords to her accounts and screenshots of the websites she visited, Attorney General Bruce Beemer’s office said in a criminal complaint.

Maurer, an employee of the Dauphin County information technology department, provided the screenshots to a court-ordered evaluator assigned to his custody case, the complaint states. He’s also accused of using his employer’s wireless network to illegally access the woman’s accounts.

Maurer was charged Wednesday with illegal interception of electronic communications and unlawful access to stored communications. He was released on $20,000 bail.
