HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Chris Cowan is the Democratic candidate for the the 88th state House district, which covers part of Cumberland County.
abc27 News is making free airtime available to candidates. The following is the full text of Cowan’s statement:
“Hi, I’m Chris Cowan. I’m proud to be a candidate for state representative in Pennsylvania’s 88th district. I’m also proud to be a third-grade teacher. Every day, I see the value of great public schools.
I work hard for my students, but I worry that school funding cuts and too much standardized testing shortchange the high-quality education every student deserves. And I think we can do better.
I’m running for state representative because Harrisburg isn’t doing enough for our kids. I believe we find ways to reduce testing and fully fund our schools – without passing the burden on to local taxpayers.
We live in a great community, and as your state representative, I will make sure your voice is heard in the State Capitol.
Let’s work together to make our schools and our community stronger and more vibrant for us, and our children.
I’m asking for your vote on Nov. 8th. Thank you.”
