HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) – Following a court battle with the state Republican Party, Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf’s administration has begun releasing more copies of emails sent or received by Katie McGinty when she was his chief of staff, before she ran for U.S. Senate.
Wolf’s press secretary Jeff Sheridan says the first batch of emails was handed over last week after the administration decided against prolonging the year-long court fight.
Sheridan says the administration has thus far released more than 1,700 pages to the Republican Party as it works through search terms provided by the GOP.
McGinty is challenging Republican U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey in Tuesday’s election.
Commonwealth Court ruled Oct. 14 that Wolf’s administration hadn’t sufficiently proven that the emails should be exempt under Pennsylvania’s open records law.
