According to the American Cancer Society, as many as 20% of the people who die from lung cancer in the United States every year do not smoke or use any other form of tobacco. While the United States has seen a decline in smoking, we have seen a decrease in lung cancer, but it is very troubling that the decline is not seen as much in women.
Lung cancer is the number one cancer killer in both men and women, more than colon and rectum, breast and prostate cancer – combined. Survival rates are also the lowest of all cancer types, with only 16 percent survival rate.
