STROUDSBURG, Pa. (AP) – A woman accused of helping her then-husband kill and dismember a Pennsylvania man over a drug dispute has told police the victim asked for a chance to pray before he was stabbed.
Jurors in the trial of 48-year-old Stacy Britton heard her describe the July 2002 killing of Robert Roudebush in a recorded police statement played in her Monroe County trial Thursday. Roudebush’s charred remains were later found in two barrels.
Thirty-six-year-old James Britton Jr. has pleaded guilty to third-degree murder in the killing and is serving 15 to 30 years in prison.
The Brittons lived in Wilkes-Barre when Roudebush was killed, but moved to California and divorced. The case went unsolved until last year when authorities say Stacy Britton tried to pin the killing on her ex-husband because she was angry with his new wife.
