10-point ‘trophy’ buck illegally killed in York County

(Pennsylvania Game Commission)

YORK, Pa. (WHTM) – The Pennsylvania Game Commission is asking for the public’s help to find the person who illegally killed a large white-trailed deer in Spring Garden Township.

The 10-point buck was shot three times with a firearm late Saturday night or early Sunday morning on the Country Club of York golf course, according to Southcentral Region Game Commission law enforcement supervisor Richard Danley. Wildlife conservation officers found the dead buck in a nearby area.

Firearms deer season does not open until Nov. 28.

“This deer, had it been harvested by a lawful hunter, would have been quite a trophy. Unfortunately, our investigation is revealing it was poached by thieves who stole the opportunity from a hunter who would not have let this deer go to waste, ” Danley said.

Anyone with information is asked to fill out a report at http://bit.ly/PGCOGT or the Southcentral Regional Office at 814-643-1831 or 814-643-9635.
