CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) – A 78-year-old Mechanicsburg man died in a three-vehicle crash Wednesday morning in West Pennsboro Township.

State police in Carlisle said the crash occurred when a 19-year-old Newville man went through a stop sign on Burnthouse Road and drove into the path of a vehicle northbound on Ritner Highway.

The Mechanicsburg man, who was not immediately identified, was traveling south on Ritner Highway and struck one of the vehicles after the initial collision, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the Newville man and his 3-year-old son sustained minor injuries. They said the boy was flown to a hospital for “cautionary reasons.”

Two people in the second car, a 31-year-old Carlisle woman and her 4-year-old daughter, also sustained minor injuries, police said.
