Ryan Lochte isn’t leaving Dancing with the Stars with the mirror ball trophy, but he did leave with a big boost to his image.
The Olympic swimmer went on the hit reality show hoping to revive public opinion after a scandal during the Rio Olympics, where he admitted to lying about a robbery.
Upon his elimination Monday night, Lochte earned a standing ovation from people in the audience. Earlier in the night, voters awarded him a win in the season’s first dance-off.
This comes just weeks after Lochte’s debut attracted protestors who stormed the dance floor during the live broadcast.
Lochte is also newly-engaged.
The Halloween-themed episode saw frightfully good scores from front-runners Laurie Hernandez, Calvin Johnson and James Hinchcliffe.
Hinchcliffe was forced to dance with pro Jenna Johnson after his partner, Sharna Burgess, was sidelined due to a knee injury. Doctors told her to rest her knee for three to six weeks.
Dancing with the Stars airs at 8 p.m. on abc27.
