LEBANON, Pa. (WHTM) – A 19-year-old city man is facing charges in a shooting incident that injured a 15-year-old.
James Coward was handling the gun Tuesday morning while the teen and several other people were in a room in the 300 block of East Weidman Street. The gun discharged while Coward was holding it and the teen was shot in the left upper thigh, Lebanon police said.
The teen was transported to a medical facility for treatment. Police said the wound did not appear life-threatening.
Investigators searched the home and found a stolen handgun. Coward was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment, and receiving stolen property.
Police said they were called to the home around 11:38 a.m. when a witness saw the injured teen being placed in a van. Responding officers stopped the van a short distance from the home.
The teen initially told officers he was shot somewhere else, but police said their investigation proved otherwise.
