CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM)- Almost 90 percent of first responders do not have a will according to new statistics.

“First responders are, unfortunately, known for not getting these types of documents, and they’re very important for planning purposes. It gives a peace of mind to the first responders and their families, to know that this is one more piece that’s taken care of for them” said Megan Reismeyer the County Coordinator for Wills for Heroes.

The Cumberland County Department of Public Safety held a Wills for Heroes event where attorneys, notaries, and law students volunteered to help provide area first responders with those important legal documents for free.

This is the eighth time this event has been held.
