West Shore Stadium to begin checking bags on Friday

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. (WHTM) – Sports fans attending Cedar Cliff and Red Land games at West Shore Stadium may experience delays in going through the turnstiles.

Beginning this Friday, employees will conduct bag and belongings checks for guests entering the stadium.

A West Shore School District spokesman said the new inspection policy had been a topic of ongoing conversation among board members as a means of maintaining a safe stadium environment.

Under the new guidelines, each ticketed guest can use one clear Ziploc-type freezer bag to carry their items into the stadium. A small clutch or purse is acceptable. Diaper bags, strollers, and walkers will be permitted, as will clothing, blankets, cameras, and cell phones if carried loosely or in an approved clear bag. The district also allows seat cushions without storage pockets and not exceeding 18-inches wide.

The district added that there are no provisions to check personal property at the stadium gate.

Fans will have to take prohibited items back to their vehicles.
