HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – A bill to crack down on home-invasion burglaries is heading to Gov. Tom Wolf’s desk.

Senate Bill 1062, which expands the maximum penalty for home invasions, was given final approval Wednesday in the state House by a vote of 191-1.

When a burglary is committed with the intent to seriously hurt someone in the home, judges will have the option to enhance the sentence by up to 40 years in prison.

The legislation was written with input from the District Attorney’s Association and the Office of the Attorney General.
