Hanover mom gets prison time for putting kids in Corvette trunk

HANOVER, Pa. (WHTM) – A York County mother will spend 6-23 months in prison for riding around town with her children in the trunk of a red Corvette.

Jessica M. Reger, 29, of Hanover, was sentenced Thursday after pleading guilty to one count of endangering the welfare of a child, according to court records.

A second count of child endangerment and two counts of reckless endangerment were withdrawn.

Reger was charged in July after police said they received a call from someone who saw the children in the trunk. The caller gave the license plate number and said the Corvette was traveling on West Middle Street.

An officer caught up with the Corvette and found the children, ages 3 and 5, in the trunk.

The driver, 28-year-old Ilena Blackburn of Spring Grove, pleaded guilty earlier this month to a count of reckless endangerment and a summary charge of improper child restraints. She was sentenced to 14 months of probation.

Both were ordered to attend parenting classes.
