WASHINGTON (WHTM) – Peg Perego is recalling about 3,000 children’s ATV-style riding toys with electric motors that can overheat and catch fire.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission says the company has received three reports of the toy vehicles overheating, including one report of a burn, when a relay on the circuit board failed.
The recall involves Peg Perego’s 850 Polaris Sportsman ride-on toy that’s powered by a 24-volt battery and intended for children ages 5 to 7 years. Vehicles with date codes 651016, 651017, 651020, 651021, 651022, 651023, 651024, 651027, 651028, 651029, 651030, 660304, 660305, 661123, 661124, 661125 and 661130 are included.
The toys were sold through online retailers including Amazon.com, Cabelas.com, Target.com, ToysRUs.com and Wal-Mart.com from October 2014 through May 2015 for between $500 and $600.
Consumers should contact Peg Perego to receive a free replacement circuit board with instructions.
