MOUNT JOY, Pa. (WHTM) – PennDOT has begun another round of improvements to the Mount Joy train station.
The $25 million project will add covered, elevated platforms to make boarding trains easier, a pedestrian overpass between the east and westbound platforms, elevators, enclosed stair towers, and 42 parking spaces.
The station currently has two small shelters on two low-level platforms.
PennDOT Secretary Leslie Richards said the work will improve access for people with disabilities and senior citizens. She said the improvements will also enhance the center of Mount Joy and boost the borough’s ongoing revitalization plans.
The project is expected to take three years to complete.
