STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) – Eleven people have been charged in an unruly celebration following Penn State’s upset victory over No. 2 Ohio State Saturday night.
State College police Chief John Gardner says the damage estimate has also increased, from $18,000 to about $30,000.
Ten of those charged so far are current or former Penn State students, and Gardner says he expects more people will be charged.
Fans pulled down five street lights and damaged street light globes, and took about 20 streets signs and stop signs. Several small fires were also set, and at least one vehicle was damaged.
Police say 5,000 to 10,000 mostly college-aged fans gathered in downtown State College after the 24-21 victory.
One fan has started a GoFundMe page to help pay for the damage.
