Former Sandusky lawyer sentenced to federal prison

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) –  A former Carlisle attorney who represented former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky will serve 20 months in a federal prison on charges of tax evasion.

On Tuesday, a judge also ordered Karl E. Rominger, 43, to pay $317,602 in restitution to the IRS.

Rominger pleaded guilty in July to tax evasion and failure to file a federal tax return.

He is currently serving a 5 1/2 to 18 year sentence in state prison after pleading guilty to stealing more than $767,000 from clients. Prosecutors said he stole from more than a dozen client and spent the  money on casino gambling and other interests.

Rominger will serve his federal sentence after finishing his state sentence.
